Maybe it is a LaGuardia thing.<br /><br />Also, the tipping of drivers: WHO KNOWS!!! I usually go with $5 if it's a one-off or $2-3 if it's a short ride. I have noticed that none of the publishing people who use them like taxis in NYC EVER tip the drivers. They presumably get a flat fee or are salaried.<br /><br />I have also found that it is a really good idea to be nice to your driver. Sometimes they are the most helpful people on your book tour.
